Illustrious Brother Powers served the Fraternity with distinction for 53 years. He was Wise Master of the Chapter of Rose Croix, Member of the Executive Committee, Commander of the Scottish Rite Guard and Chairman of the Stage & Properties Committee. Illustrious Brother Powers was a member of the York Rite and Shrine, he had served his Symbolic Lodge as Worshipful Master in 1958. In the community Illustrious Brother Powers had been a member of the City of Baltimore, Maryland Fire Department before retiring to Florida. In retirement he remained active serving on various boards and committees of his community. Illustrious Brother Powers moved to the Masonic Home of Pennsylvania and continued to involve himself in various activities including being elected President of the Resident Council.
